International Indoor Junior Lacrosse (IIJL), in partnership with the Canadian Lacrosse League (CLL), has awarded the 8th edition of the international tournament to the Onondaga Nation Arena, Tsha’ Hoñnoñyeñdakwha.
The 2024 IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship will be hosted at Tsha’ Hoñnoñyeñdakwha, which translates to English as “Where they play Games”, and commonly known as Onondaga Nation Arena; home of the Onondaga Redhawks of the First Nations Junior B Lacrosse League and Can-Am Senior B Lacrosse League.

Leading the committee is Tournament Chair Chris Fox, President of the Canadian Lacrosse League and International Indoor Junior Lacrosse.

“We are very excited for the IIJL World Junior Lacrosse Championship to return to Haudenosaunee territory – and first at the intimate setting of the Onondaga Nation Arena” said Chris Fox. “More importantly, we are honoured to work with the Local Host Committee to provide junior players from across the globe with opportunities to connect with the Haudenosaunee culture and share in the rich history of their sport.” Fox added.

The last time the IIJl World Junior Lacrosse Championship was played on Haudenosaunee territory was in 2015, then named the U-19 World Lacrosse Challenge, and 2016; both tournaments were played at the Iroquois Lacrosse Arena in Six Nations of the Grand River.
