Nya:wëh sgënö’,

The summer is moving along and soon it will be time to get ready for back to school. The Marvin “Joe” Curry Veterans Powwow was held at the Seneca Allegany events center this year. Nya:wëh to the powwow committee and volunteers for your hard work leading up to and through the event. Until next year.

The Nation completed the single audit report which was presented at Council and will be submitted to the clearing house. This is a daunting task every year and we are thankful for our fiscal and accounting departments for their work with the auditing firm.

A few additional things happening in the fiscal department include the property, business interruption, contents, crime, pollution and deadly weapon insurance was renewed. A Request for Proposal (RFP) process for the health insurance has concluded and working with SGC will continue to be with Independent Health.

The Education Departments (Cattaraugus and Allegany) submitted revisions to the Higher Education Policy. It was amended at Council and held for more discussion and with an increase for the funding levels passed. Council will continue to review amendments and policy changes will move forward next Council.

Upgrades at the CCC include getting the roof replaced as well as a refresher to the elder seating session. Bleacher style seating will replace the chairs to accommodate better viewing. The health center is moving along very well and a November grand opening is still anticipated. The waterline project is currently underway in the Irving area. Be cautious as you travel Rt. 438.

Good luck to the lacrosse teams currently in progress.
Stay safe and stay strong,
Dah ne’hoh dih ae’,
