A message from President Rickey L. Armstrong, Sr.

Greetings,

I hope that this message finds you well.

It is back to hënödeyësdahgw’a’geh (school) time, and I hope our children and parents are ready for a rewarding academic year! Our college students recently returned to campus, and I hope they are off to a great start as well. The Haudenosaunee Nationals Women’s U20 team recently traveled to Hong Kong to compete in the U20 World Lacrosse Championship. The women’s team defeated Mexico for an 11th place finish.

September Events
The Remember the Removal committee is sponsoring a kickoff Walk/Run 5K which will take place at the Allegany Community Center. on September 1st. The Remember the Removal ceremony will take place on September 28th, at the Steamburg Community Center. For more information, please call 716-945-1790 ext. 3064 or email: RTR@sni.org.

The Seneca Fall Festival will take place September 13th, 14th, & 15th on the Saylor Building Grounds at 12861 Route 438, Irving, NY 14081. On September 30th, Every Child Matters, Remembering and Community Healing Walk will take place from 5pm to 7pm at the Sully Huff Heritage Center at 12857 Route 438, Irving, NY 14081. Elders Summer Caribbean Themed Picnic
On August 14th, Seneca Nation Councilors and Executives welcomed Seneca Elders to the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino’s Event Center for the annual Elder’s Summer Picnic. This year’s picnic included Caribbean foods, music, and entertainment. The picnic, as usual, was well attended. It was a great time to catch up with old friends and a chance to make new ones.

Ute Tribe Business Council
On August 19th, members of the Ute Tribe Business Council came to learn about the Seneca Nation’s experience with the Federal Energy Relicensing Commission’s (FERC) relicensing process. The Business Council sought to gain valuable insight into what it takes to get a FERC license. The Ute Tribe Business Council was given a tour of the Seneca Pumped Storage project and the upper reservoir. After the tour, the Ute Tribe Business Council met with several Seneca Nation Departments including, Archives, Conservation, Geographic Information Systems, and Seneca Holdings/Seneca Environmental.
