at the Onöhsagwë: de’ Cultural Center
We are now accepting inquiries from community members who would like to showcase their family heirlooms for an upcoming community exhibit “Ögwaiwánöhgöh óíwagwe:göh niyögwawëh ga:wajiyä:de’: We Cherish our Traditional Family Belongings”.
Throughout this process participating community members will learn about museum object care in order to preserve family keepsakes for generations to come. Objects we are looking to showcase include but are not limited to: baskets, moccasins, beadwork, cradleboards, old family photographs, lacrosse sticks, silver brooches, water drums, paintings, cornhusk dolls, rattles, etc.
Interested community members are encouraged to send photos and descriptions of their heirlooms to randee.spruce@sni.org or they may call (716)945-1760 to set up an appointment with the Curator, Randee Spruce. Please see the example provided for context on what to include with your family heirlooms response.
