Repost from Salamanca Warrior Athletics
Today the Salamanca Boys Varsity Cross Country team made a little history at the Knox Farms Invitational. Salamanca had not had a Varsity Cross Country team score as a team since at least the fall of 1995. Jaxon Crouse, Aiden George, Chad Hill Jr. Preston Smith, and Messiah Ground changed this. Of the 20 teams who competed, 17 were able to score, (Teams have to have at least 5 runners to score), Salamanca finished in 13th place. This is great especially considering 4 of the 5 runners were running in their first varsity race and 3 of the runners have never ran a cross country race. Jaxon Crouse was the first Salamanca runner to finish with a time of 19:55 in 37th place. Followed by Aiden George (21:09/58th), Chad Hill Jr (23:47/11th), Preston Smith (25:36/118th), and Messiah Ground (27:02/134th). There were 143 runners who competed in this race. Follow these guys and watch how much they are going to improve this season.
In the Girls Varsity race Ryanna Brady finished in 5th in the small schools race which had 119 runners. Like the boys race, the Salamanca Girls team also had a first time Varsity runner in Kaylin Lemon. Kaylin finished in 77th place with a time of 27:01 on the 3.1 mile course.
The last two competitors of the day for Salamanca were new runners Payton Maybee and Denver Parsons. They competed in the 2.4 mile Junior Varsity race. Denver finished in 29th in 20:07 and Payton in 32nd place in 21:39.
