Greetings,
I hope this message finds you well.
Sawádäshäga’tši’ (The season has come to an end again.) The leaves are starting to change, and the nights are getting shorter and cooler. If you get a chance, take a stroll and enjoy the beautiful fall foliage. I hope you had a chance to get out to experience and enjoy the annual Seneca Nation Fall Festival. Please take the time to support our youth and attend a sporting or academic event. The Salamanca Warriors varsity football team is off to a 3-0 start to their season.
Pennsy Trail Cameras
Seneca Nation Councillors, Executives, and Law Enforcement Commission members recently presented the City of Salamanca with 7 state-of-the-art cloud-based cameras to monitor the Pennsy Trail in Salamanca. The 3-mile Pennsy trail was developed to provide residents with open access to recreation and exercise for multiple health and wellness benefits. The Seneca Nation Marshals and the City of Salamanca Police Department will collaborate to monitor and patrol the trail. These cameras will provide our Marshals and the Salamanca Police department with the capability to provide greater safeguards for our communities.
Jimersontown Playground
This year the Nation set a plan to replace eight playgrounds on the territories. On September 16th, Community Members, Councillors and Executives held a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Jimersontown “inclusive” playground. The inclusive playground is designed to allow children of all abilities to play together in a safe environment. At this new playground, generations of our children, who are the foundation of our community, will build childhood memories that will last them a lifetime. Nya:wëh to everyone who helped envision this new space for our children, and everyone who helped make this day possible. Enjoy!
Law Enforcement Training
The Seneca Nation recently hosted members of Louisiana State University’s National Center for Biomedical Research and Training / Academy of Counter-Terrorist Education on the Cattaraugus Territory. The simulated active threat training provided the Seneca Nation’s Marshals, Conservation, Dispatchers, Seneca EMS, Seneca Fire – C.I.R.V.F.D., local law enforcement, and our partners in health care an invaluable opportunity to work together.
Steamburg Residents
Please be aware that between October 22nd & 24th, National Grid will be performing work to help increase the reliability of the existing line. This vital work will help the community stay up to date with current technology. For more information, please contact Seneca Energy at (716) 532-9221.
Finally, I hope that you were able to experience the partial eclipse of the September super harvest moon. It was an awe-inspiring celestial event.
Respectfully,
Rickey L. Armstrong, Sr, President
Seneca Nation
