In celebration of Native American Month, the Friends of the Turtle gathered for a candle lighting in front of The Turtle in Niagara Falls on November 1st, 2024. The Friends of the Turtle’s mission is to re-awaken the Turtle as a space for Indigenous arts, culture, and heritage. Among the activities were appearances by special guest David George-Shongo, Jr., former Director of the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum, and current Executive Director at Native American Multi Enterprise, who spoke on the importance of the Turtle, and performer David Pierce sang a turtle song while masterfully drumming.
