The Buffalo Bandits Celebrate Native American Heritage Night at Key Bank Center!

The Buffalo Bandits celebrated Native American Heritage Night on January 10, 2025 as they faced Toronto Rock. Sixty minutes of intense lacrosse ended as Weiss won the battle for Buffalo, scoring the game-winning goal between the legs of Toronto goalie Nick Rose with 43 seconds remaining to keep the Bandits’ undefeated start alive with a 15-13 victory.

The Bandits organization shared “We are grateful for the opportunity to live, work and play lacrosse in this territory. Throughout tonight’s game, we will honor the rich history of the Indigenous People in Western New York.”

Some of the highlight’s included:

  • The Buffalo Bandits were proud to welcome President of the Seneca Nation, J.C. Seneca for attending the game for the ceremonial faceoff!
  • The Buffalo Bandits send a special thank you to Jacky Snyder for making our amazing belts for Native American Heritage Night! Jacky shared “For the past 3 years I’ve enjoyed being the official bead worker of the Buffalo Bandits lol First year – medallions. Second year – ties and bow ties. This year – belts! And another little something-something for their next home game, as all month they recognize NAHM”
  • Attendees had a chance to win a one-of-a-kind beaded Bandits cowboy hat, designed by native artist Aryien Stevens (Joä’nö’). She shared “Always grateful for these opportunities, nya:wëh Mimi, SGC & the Buffalo Bandits for including me! It was a fun night – I hope you had a chance to enter!”
  • Congratulations to Jillian Rea and Mavi Montour, the winners of this year’s Native American Heritage Scholarships!
  • The Marty Jimerson Dance Group entertained fans for Native American Heritage Night, from the Seneca Nation, Cattaraugus Territory as they performed their traditional songs and dances! Marty shared “Awesome time at the Bandits game sharing some songs & dances for Native American Heritage Night. Great hosts, nya:wëh to the dancers & to Brad Jimerson for the amazing pics!”
  • Post game celebrations were held at Seneca Buffalo Creek Casino, visitors had the chance to meet the team….& Much More!
