“Today, I had the honor of welcoming my friend, Seneca Nation President J.C. Seneca, and other Seneca friends to the Capitol in Albany. They are here for Governor Hochul’s State of the State Address. Their presence is also a reminder that New York State is not living up to its commitment to the Seneca Nation.
The Seneca Nation has been a vital partner in Western New York’s economic growth, and it’s deeply disappointing that the Hochul administration has not negotiated in good faith toward a new gaming compact. The Seneca Nation has consistently shown a willingness to work collaboratively, yet they’ve been met with delays and roadblocks from the state.
It’s time for Governor Hochul to prioritize this critical agreement, which directly impacts communities across our region. Fairness, respect, and transparency must guide these negotiations to ensure that the Seneca Nation can continue to thrive and contribute to Western New York. I stand with President Seneca and the Seneca Nation in calling for the state to come back to the table and finalize a fair deal.”
