New Bus Garage Grand Opening – Catt. Territory

On Monday, April 14, 2025, Seneca Nation of Indians Lake Shore Transportation Department celebrated a Grand Opening and Official Ribbon Cutting of their new bus garage located on the Cattaraugus Territory (12589 Route 438, Irving NY). The garage is equipped with a bay that stores all eleven buses in the fleet, restrooms, a breakroom for the drivers and monitors to hang out in along with two offices. One office is for the Director, Wendy Williams, and the other is for the Administrative Assistant, Ashley Warrior. The bus garage will ensure the safety and longevity of the fleet as they are now out of the elements and safe from being vandalized. Gratitude for the new building, the work completed by the construction company, and the hard work the department does for the youth that utilize the department was acknowledged during speeches from the SNI President J. Conrad Seneca, and Councillor Jonathan D. Williams. Natalie Stahlman, Executive Assistant to the Treasurer, also spoke on behalf of Treasurer Al E. George and Kerry J. John, Deputy Chief of Staff, and gave special thanks to the following:

Tom Ward, President of Huber Construction along with his team and company they were the design builder.

Joel Merrill, the in-house engineer who started the project and got it underway.

The Facilities Team, Angel Cortes and Jessica Garrow.

Mike Gates for his coordination with our bus communication systems.

Lastly, Wendy Williams and her team for their input, collaboration, and of course what they do for the children of the community every day.

The department celebrated their new base just in time for Bus Driver Appreciation Day on April 22nd, 2025. Congratulations to the SNI Lake Shore Transportation Department. All the hard work the monitors, drivers and staff do for the children all year round is not gone unnoticed.
