Noelani “Lani” Cornfield was recognized in a regular session of SNI Council

for her exemplary basketball career to date as a senior on this year’s U.B. Bulls women’s basketball team

This season, Lani averaged 10.7 points, 3.8 rebounds, 2.4 steals, and a team-leading 5.8 assists per game, ranking in the top 20 nationally and eclipsing the 500 career assists milestone.

Lani was also a star on defense, finishing second in the Mid-American Conference in both steals per game and total steals, and earning a spot on the Conference’s All-Defensive Team.

The highlight for Lani and her teammates, and for basketball fans at U.B., throughout Western New York and across the country, came in the prestigious WNIT Tournament. The Bulls started the WNIT with a thrilling 84-82 overtime win against Massachusetts. They followed that with victories over Southern Indiana, Rutgers, and Cleveland State to advance to the championship game against Troy, which was played on U.B.’s home court.

In the biggest game in the program’s history, Lani rose to the moment, scoring 15 points and adding 11 assists, helping the Bulls erase an 11-point second half deficit, and leading the team to an 88-84 victory and the program’s first ever WNIT title.

For her outstanding play, Lani was named to the All-Tournament team.

Lani has also excelled in the classroom, where she is pursuing a Master’s Degree in Criminology. She earned recognition on the 2025 College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Women’s Basketball Team this season.

Lani recently committed to the University of Arizona. The Seneca Nation is proud to recognize and congratulate Noelani “Lani” Cornfield for all her accomplishments and hard work on the court and in the classroom.
