Last Thursday, September 18th, the Salamanca City Central School District’s Seneca Youth Dancers hosted a potluck and social as part of Remember the Removal Month programming. The students were able to hear stories and testimony from Removal Era Survivors and their descendents, and learned about the struggles that occurred at that time and their lasting effects today.
This month is important for us to learn and heal from the trauma of the Kinzua era. Without these stories being passed down, it would be easy to forget such a difficult time. It takes courage to share our thoughts and feelings, but it’s a necessary step in healing and reconciliation. It’s up to us to say, “Never Again.”
