Ëyetinëtšinéhshö’ Immersed Learning Nest (ËILN)

Nya:wëh Sgënö’! We are Ëyetinëtšinéhshö’ , meaning “we will bring them along”. We are a multi-age fully immersive Seneca Language classroom.

Throughout our day, we provide an atmosphere that best supports the children’s developing language, inspired by the land, seasonal changes, and our ceremonial way of life.

We want to acknowledge it has come to our Fifth year of operation here on the Seneca Nation Territory. We began in February 2021 with the first pilot which included one student along with one teacher for only a few hours of full Seneca Immersion class work time. Our program is still working to grow.

We have serviced a total of 15 children from 10 families since that first pilot. We are now hosted within the Seneca Nation’s Early Childhood Learning Center, which allows us access to this facility’s amenities, but also access to the beautiful Clear Creek landscape and an abundance of wildlife to witness throughout our daily excursions.

This program would not have been possible without the help from all the people involved. We are thankful to each and everyone of you that have been a teacher, volunteered time/speakership. We want to acknowledge the elders that have joined in for classroom time or assisted the teachers with the words to help make our program thrive. We appreciate all the hard work our families continue to do to help in supporting this program. We see the dedicated work you all have done for the language revitalization, to make it possible for our program to become a reality.

We always welcome guests to observe the classroom or if want to help support in anyway please feel free to reach out . We have applications available if you have interests in the program any questions can be directed to our Nest Coordinator Barbara Cooke through email: Barbara.cooke@sni.org.
