Iroquois Genealogy Society Doings

We hope everyone has had healthy start of the new year! We are looking forward to learning more history at our genealogy meetings and of course our families too.

We always like to see new faces, young and old at our meetings. We always have Elders at our meetings and there are interesting stories to hear from them. So, please come to a meeting! We would love to see you plus we always have good eats! Last but not least, bring any questions you may have about your family. Someone may have an answer at our meeting, or we have researchers who could point you in a particular direction.

Our 2026 year starts off with a very interesting presentation by Jare Cardinal (Seneca-Iroquois National Museum). She is in the process of identifying pictures of individuals that have been donated to the museum through the years. Some have names, some do not. She will have a PowerPoint presentation, and attendees will help identify the people in the pictures. Attendees are encouraged to bring pictures that they have to see if they can be identified as well. Most of the pictures are individuals from Cattaraugus Territory but also someone from Allegany Territory.

Our first meeting for 2026 with Jare Cardinal: March 12, 2026 @ 6 pm at the Four Corners Methodist Church, Cattaraugus Territory, 12767 Route 438, Irving, NY.

Our April meeting will be held on April 9, 2026, at the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum, 82 West Hetzel St. Salamanca, NY @ 6pm. The presentation: History of the Remember the Removal presented by Rebecca Bowen.

Our May meeting will be held on May 14, 2026, at the Iroquois Post 1587 American Legion, 12897 Route 438, Irving NY on the Cattaraugus Territory. Post Commander Ron Cook will be our presenter. Please come and learn about the lives of our honorable Veterans.

Please bring a dish to pass. Plates/Utensils provided and water. We hope to see you at our next meeting and bring a friend!
