Moccasin Making at Silver Creek Central

Repost from Silver Creek Central School District

Seneca 5 students started a project that they will wear at graduation! The Seneca Language Department welcomed Sam Jacobs from the Seneca Nation, who taught the seniors and staff how to make their own moccasins. From measuring and cutting the leather to sewing the pieces together tightly, the moccasins came together throughout the day. The students also practiced their Seneca Language relating to making the moccasins. Amirya, Skyla, and Hailie will be taking it a step further and working to fully bead and decorate their moccasins for graduation.
