Corning Museum of Glass unveils latest Permanent Installation

Repost from Corning Museum of Glass

We’re excited to share a historic moment at CMoG: our new permanent installation—Glass in the Hodi:nohšö:nih (Haudenosaunee) Confederacy—is officially on view and open to the public!

Developed in close collaboration with the Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center of the Seneca Nation of Indians director Hayden Haynes and curated by artist and independent curator Randee Spruce (Seneca, Heron Clan), this installation centers Seneca voices in telling a 400 year story of glass, culture, and innovation.

Visitors are invited to experience historic beadwork on long term loan from the Cultural Center—including a rare 19th century flat purse—alongside a newly commissioned pair of moccasins by contemporary artist and educator Samantha Jacobs (Seneca, Turtle Clan), now part of CMoG’s permanent collection.

It was so wonderful to host everyone at the opening celebration, and we welcome our community to explore this meaningful and important addition to the Museum.
