On March 18, 2026, some of our 8th and 9th grade Seneca Language students took a trip to Gakwi:yo:h Farms. The students have learned maple tapping here on campus, but they were able to see a boiler, learn more about the boiling process, ask questions, speak in Seneca, watch syrup turn into maple sugar in real time, sift and bottle their own maple sugar, and eat a delicious breakfast using syrup from the trees at the farm! We learned a lot about the farm and what it offers, as well as projects they are working on. This trip was possible thanks to the OBEWL language grant through NYS.
