Unique and Immersive Experience Created for Salamanca City Central School District Students

Repost from Salamanca CSD Native Programming & Services

The Native American Curriculum Team collaborated with 11th grade English teacher Mrs. Hoffman to create a unique and immersive experience for her students.

While studying transcendentalism and the works of transcendentalist writers, Mrs. Hoffman sought to make meaningful connections for her classes and partnered with the NACT team to bring this vision to life. Students explored four recreated “seasonal” environments, each designed to engage all five senses through culturally relevant visuals, sounds, material artifacts, and even Indigenous foods.

As they rotated through each space, students completed a “passport” activity, using sensory details to record their observations and deepen their understanding of the experience.
