Seneca Nation Celebrates Earth Day

The OCC hosted its annual Earth Day activities on Wednesday, April 22, 2026. In partnership with the Seneca Nation Ceremonial Department, the Seneca Language Immersion Program, team members from Seneca Language Teacher Support and Community Outreach, as well as the Seneca Nation Environmental Protection Department.

There was a traditional outdoor cooking demo, a tobacco planting lesson, and shared laughs throughout the day. Nya:wëh to everyone who came out to join us and the great people who make this tradition possible.

Earth Day and every day we’re reminded how important it is to care for the world our children are growing up in. From little hands planting seeds to big lessons about respecting nature, every moment counts.

At SALC, we believe in teaching our children to love the Earth, protect it, and stay connected to it, because these lessons grow with them. Let’s continue to nurture not only our children, but the land, the water, and the future we all share.

The Cattaraugus Community Center hosted their annual Earth Day walk with a great turnout.
