Updates from the Community Planning and Development Department

It’s been a full and energizing month for our team—and even better, we got to share it with so many of you. From the Community Fair to department open houses and hands-on workshops, it was great seeing familiar faces and meeting new ones who are invested in what we’re building together.

A big shoutout goes to our Code Enforcement Officers, who traveled to the National Home Performance Conference in Columbus. There, they took advanced courses to sharpen their skills and expand their expertise beyond standard code requirements, bringing back knowledge that strengthens our entire community and programs.

At the same time, our Director and Grant Writer attended the Native Americans in Philanthropy Conference in Riverside. By connecting with leaders and organizations from across the country, they’re helping open doors to new funding opportunities that will support impactful projects throughout the Nation.

Skateparks Update
Exciting progress is happening on our local skateparks! The Allegany Skatepark is largely complete and ready for use—though please note it is currently a use at your own risk site, with signage coming soon. Meanwhile, the Cattaraugus Skatepark is entering its final phase, with landscaping, lighting, and security features up next. Until (Continued on next page)
construction wraps up and fencing is removed, please use caution around the site—we want everyone to stay safe while we finish strong.

Rez Dog Program
We’re also thrilled about the successful kickoff of our Rez Dog Program! The turnout at the giveaway and workshops was fantastic, and we truly appreciate everyone who stopped by to learn more, share ideas, and get involved. This is just the beginning—keep an eye out for upcoming collaborations with our Pet team and the Erie County SPCA, including pet food giveaways and vaccination clinics. In the meantime, if your pet needs care, you can explore services available through the Lipsey Clinic at the SPCA.

Thanks again to everyone who showed up, participated, and continues to support this work—we’re building something meaningful together.
