Bonaventure University Honors Indigenous Peoples Day

Repost from St. Bonaventure University

As a Franciscan university, we are called to honor the communities with whom we share our home and build relationships rooted in respect and understanding. On Indigenous Peoples Day, we embrace that calling as we honor Indigenous peoples, especially our Seneca neighbors, on whose ancestral homelands St. Bonaventure University stands.

Our longstanding relationship with the Seneca Nation of Indians is a meaningful part of our university community. From the Seneca Nation flag flying on campus to our shared land acknowledgment, we are grateful for the friendship, mutual learning and connections that continue to grow.

Today, we celebrate the rich history, living traditions and enduring contributions of the Seneca people, reaffirming our gratitude for the relationship we share and our commitment to strengthening it for generations to come.
