Maple season is here!
Each month, Seneca Media & Communications Center updates their Facebook profile cover photo for our follower’s enjoyment. This month’s photo was taken in 2019 on the Brant Reservation Road on the Cattaraugus Territory. Our March photo was chosen because maple season is here! The running of Wahda’ oshesda’ (maple sap) from the maple tree is considered an early sign of the Spring awakening of Mother Earth.
Did you know it takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup? Syrup from Seneca Nation Gakwi:yo:h Farms is available in pint and quart sizes and can be purchased at the Seneca One Stops in Irving and Allegany, the Seneca Allegany Resort & Casino, the Seneca-Iroquois National Museum Onöhsagwë:de’ Cultural Center, and at the farm located at 13594 Taylor Hollow Road, Collins, N.Y.
