100 Children Live in This Neighborhood – that’s 100 REASONS TO SLOW DOWN!
On June 29, 2022, members of the community and students from Seneca Arts & Learning Center & Recreation donned their highlighter-yellow shirts to remind us all to Slow Down Jimtown. Escorted by Seneca EMS, Seneca Fire, and Marshals, the walk began at the Seneca Allegany Administration Building and ended at the Allegany Community Center for a cookout and a much-needed outdoor community gathering after the walk’s year-long hiatus.
Minding speed is one of the easiest ways to make sure our children, elders, and people can feel safe where they live. Please follow the 25 MPH speed limit! Keep an eye out for additional signage developed by the committee to support all of our elders and children in neighborhoods outside of Jimersontown. Stay tuned for new initiatives from the Slow Down Committee.
We:so nya:wëh to all those that made this event a resounding success including Seneca Nation Conservation, Seneca Nation DOT, GIS, Seneca Nation Environmental, The Treasurer’s Office, Council, Newsletter, Education, and the ACC for hosting.
