National Healthy Hearts Month

Gagowanëh! (It’s important!)

With the month of February being National Healthy Hearts month SALC RN Miss. Angela wants to remind everyone how important it is to check your blood pressure. Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is one of the most common health conditions plaguing American adults. And as a critical risk factor for heart disease — the world’s leading killer — it’s also one of the most dangerous. In the U.S. alone, more than 500,000 deaths each year are linked to high blood pressure, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Globally, the death toll tops 7 million. But there is good news: High blood pressure is both preventable and treatable once diagnosed.
