2023 Memorial Day Commemoration

The 2023 Memorial Day Commemoration took place at the Seneca Allegany Administration Building on May 29, 2023 on the Allegany Territory. Iroquois Post Commander 1587 Ron Cook, Jr. served as Master of Ceremonies for the day, which began as all gatherings do with the Thanksgiving Address.

Seneca Nation President and Air Force Veteran Rickey Armstrong, Sr. gave his remarks and his thanks to all who served and are currently serving; a wreath laying ceremony followed. The day’s commemoration continued with a recognition and honoring of three Seneca Veterans: Arnold White, WWII US Navy, Wilbur Curry, Jr., Vietnam War US Army, and Collins Moses, WWII US Army. Post representatives read aloud each individual’s truly remarkable story. Before lunch, Dorothy Button, US Coast Guard Veteran swore in the newly elected post officers, and the ceremony closed with the retiring of the colors and the Veterans Song, offered by Al George.

To those who gave the ultimate sacrifice, our endless gratitude is extended. To those who serve today, your dedication to service is honored.
