Monday, June 5, 2023, at age 79, Daniel went home to be with the Lord, his son, Gregg Guilfoyle and his parents, Daniel E. and Henrietta Guilfoyle. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Carolyn S. Guilfoyle; devoted children, Richard (Sarah) Sutter, Carrie (Phil) Weimer, Daniel (Ilana) Guilfoyle III, Ryan (Annabelle) Sutter; grandchildren, Pablo, Paloma, Jay, Hudson Sutter, Tallulah Tallchief Guilfoyle, Laura, Matthew and Nicolas Sutter; brothers, Michael (Karen) and Stephen (Sue) Guilfoyle; uncle, Bill Hoag of Lake Sammamish, WA.; many loving family and dear friends.
Daniel was a veteran of the United States Army and a proudly enrolled member of the great Seneca Nation. He was known as a “doo-wop” radio DJ in the 1960’s. His career would span the rock and roll era and even includes time in the restaurant business at a place called Big Boppers. You may have heard him sing with The Showvinistics or played against him in softball. Danny sang with the Showvinistics, one of Rochester’s most popular acappella groups, for three decades. He was a lifelong Rochester Red Wings fan and board member and was a dedicated emcee for numerous events, including Holy Childhood, The Press-Radio Club and live music performances.
A celebration of life was held on June 14, 2023. Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers to Rochester Press Radio-Club Childrens Charities P.O. BOX 18514 Rochester, NY 14618 or Ganondagan State Historical Site: Friends of Ganondagan P.O. Box 113, Victor, NY 14564 or Spiritus Christi, 121 Fitzhugh St N, Rochester, NY 14614 in his memory.
