The Church of the Good Shepherd, located at 12114 Route 438 Ext. in Irving, N.Y. cordially invites all members of the community and interested individuals to attend a special “Every Child Matters” remembrance on September 30th at 2pm. The service will be held in the Parish hall. We will welcome Peter Jemison, world renowned Native America artist, and the first Manager of the Ganondagan State Historic Site and the Right Reverend Bishop Sean Rowe, Bishop of the Episcopal Dioceses of Northwestern PA and WNY. Both Bishop Rowe and Peter Jemison will offer remarks. It will be a time for healing, worship, and community fellowship. Participants are also encouraged to find something orange to wear, to symbolize the policies and practices that deprived the cultural identity of children that attended the various Indian schools throughout the United States and Canada, and their struggle and that of their families in re-integrating them in their native families and communities.
The service will conclude with a blessing and a complimentary meal.
