Kaine Whitcomb Celebrated During Senior Night

On Tuesday, September 26th, the Salamanca Warriors Cross-Country team held a home meet at Elkdale Country Club, the Warriors began the event by celebrating Senior Night. This years Senior is Kaine Whitcomb (Seneca, Allegany Territory). This is Kaine’s first year running cross-country. “We wish we could have got him running on the team years ago. Kaine is doing such a great job for his first year and keeps improving every race” – Coach Jones

Kaine has also played on the Varsity Lacrosse team during the spring and plays for the Unified basketball team during the winter. We ended the day today with the Varsity boys race where Kaine finished the tough 3.1 mile course with a time of 24:29.

For the varsity girls Race, Ryanna Brady finished 5th with a time of 22:10. The modified boys and girls were the first race of the day, and the Salamanca Modified runners had a pretty good day. The girls did not set a new course record, but all four Salamanca girls beat the previous Salamanca team girls course record. Liana Jimerson sets the new Salamanca record at 13:03, followed by Kaylin Lemon at 13:10, Maliyah Foster at 13:27 and Harper Ellis with a 14:43. The modified course at Elkdale is 1.7 miles. Runner Aiden George ran his best race of the year to win the race and set a new modified boys course record of 10:01 for the 1.7 mile course, beating the record set last year by Carter Bucktooth. Chad Hill Jr. finished 5th in 11:08, Gregory Fisher 6th in 11:19, George Parsons 8th in 11:21. Jayden Barton finished 19th in 18:42 and Rohan Swenson 21st in 22:32.
