It is with great sorrow and bittersweet gratitude that the family of ValJean Printup announce her passing into the spirit world on October 18, 2023. She died at her home in St. Louis, Missouri. She was 87.

ValJean was born February 25, 1936 to Winnifred Gordon and Merle Bowen, Sr. in Salamanca, NY. ValJean was a caring Sister, Wife, Aunt, Mother, Grandmother and friend.
ValJean was an enrolled member of the Seneca Nation, Deer clan. She is a 9th generation Cornplanter descendant. ValJean had always put family first. She was the ever-present cheerleader and moral compass of our family. Family was the center of her universe. Death was a deliverance for her. ValJean was proceeded in death by the love of her life, her husband of 51 years, James (Jim) Printup, also by her Grandson Ray Nosie and first cousin, Steve Gordon.
ValJean is survived by sister Patricia Helfer of Fort Worth, Texas, daughters Valerie Nosie of Salamanca, NY, Karen Lutz of Florissant, Missouri, Maria (Mia) Printup of Salamanca, NY, and son James Jay Printup of Florissant, Missouri. She is also survived by numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren. As well as many Nieces and Nephews.
ValJean was kind and fun-loving. She had a laugh that would light up a room. She had many hobbies, including gardening, travel, and gambling. She was passionate about her pets, reading mystery novels and she was a very good artist.
The family is currently making plans for a Life Remembrance. Further details will be shared soon with family and close friends.
