Recipient of the 2023 Larry Ruse U17 Outstanding Midget Goaltender Award
Caias John (Seneca, Cattaraugus Territory, Turtle clan, son of Jackie Snyder & Jesse Warrior) was chosen as a recipient of the Ontario Lacrosse Association’s 2023 Prestigious Larry Ruse Award. His name will be engraved forever with top goaltenders such as Nick Rose, Dillon Ward, Riley Hutchcraft, and Kenny Montour. The Larry Ruse Award has been awarded annually since 1966 to the most Outstanding Midget Goaltender(s), averaging their Goals Against average in “A” Provincials.
Caias played with the St. Catharines Athletics U17 team, and together with his counter-part, beat out their rival tandem goalie duo from Orangeville Northmen with a Goals Against average of 2.67. Caias was invited to the OLA Annual General Meeting on November 11, 2023 at the White Oaks Resort Luncheon in Niagara-On-The-Lake and was presented a plaque that was presented by the President, Sean O’Callaghan.
