DOG TAG: Native American Heritage Month 2023
November 13, 2023 | Repost from Dog Tag Bakery
During the month of November, we honor and pay tribute to Native American Heritage Month. Native Americans have served in the U.S. military in every major conflict for more than 200 years and since September 11, almost 19% of all Native Americans have served in the Armed Forces – in comparison to an average of 14% of all other ethnicities.
From the Revolutionary War to the present day, Native Americans have steadfastly defended our nation. Gen. Ely S. Parker, a member of the Seneca Nation, played a pivotal role during the Civil War, even drafting the Confederate surrender terms. In Vietnam, 90% of the 42,000 Native American soldiers were volunteers. Their commitment and bravery have been unwavering, answering the call of duty through history. (Info via USO)
