Live Conversation w/Artist G. Peter Jemison

Listen to the Live Conversation between Artist G. Peter Jemison & Curator/VoCA Board Member Andrea R. Hanley – VoCA – Voices in Contemporary Art

Repost from VoCA Newsletter – February 2024

Through his art, G. Peter Jemison has explored various topics, from creating political works that portray contemporary social commentary to those that reflect his relationship with the natural world.

Lauren Shadford, Executive Director of VoCA shares “Today, I am so pleased to share the recording of our VoCA Talk with artist G. Peter Jemison (Seneca, Heron Clan). This interview was beautifully co-created with VoCA Board Member Andrea R. Hanley (Navajo) and hosted by the Buffalo AKG Art Museum last September. I came away from this program feeling a deep sense of gratitude for the work that Peter has done over the course of his career, and incredibly fortunate to have had the opportunity to include him as part of our Native Voices series. For those of you who could not join us in Buffalo or on the livestream, I hope you will watch this video. I promise it is well worth your time and attention. These thoughtful discussions with artists are an act of preservation unto themselves — of the artist’s voice and intent, and the artistic process as a whole.”
