I’m thankful you are well. June puts us right in the middle of the year already. As mentioned previously our budget season is well underway. Program Directors and our revenue generators should have submitted their projections and forecasts for the next fiscal year. These will be compiled and forwarded to council for their review.
Programs will meet with Council to discuss any program changes and initiatives. Once this process is completed any considerations will be worked into the new budget. In preparation for the budget process directors attended a fiscal workshop to review current and new fiscal changes
A few items we are working on this month include meeting with two large banking companies to explore other banking options for the Nation. We are starting the employee health insurance renewal process. A Request for Proposal (RFP) was sent out companies to provide our auditing services.
Council has a new project underway to replace the community playgrounds that are outdated or unsafe for children. A notice was posted to communities to request a review of their playground earlier this year. Playgrounds will also be replaced at the Learning centers as well.
The Natural gas conversion to the Nation is expected to begin on July 17th . National will be turning their lines over to the Seneca Nation to operate. Billing will be through the Nation.
A quick update on the generator program includes 255 residents applied to the program with 150 installations to date. This is an ongoing project. The residential solar program has room for 20 more systems available. Contact the Seneca Energy program for more information or interest at 716-532-9221. Lastly, the Broadband project currently has 675 active residents and business signed up for service.
We have received the keys to 265 Skillen St. where our new Buffalo office will be located. Currently contractors are bidding and review the scope of work for the project. This is very exciting news for the Seneca Nation.
Summer is upon us and the weather is great, the Saylor pool is open to Seneca’s to enjoy during the hot days.
