Seneca Nation Canvass Day took place on November 12th at the Seneca Allegany Resort and Casino Events Center. President JC Seneca was sworn-in as the Seneca Nation’s 70th president by Clerk Lenith Waterman, along with Treasurer Al E. George, Councillors from Allegany; Christian Reiller, Kevin Seneca, Rickey L. Armstrong Sr. and Joshua Becker, and Councillors from Cattaraugus; Kevin Nephew, Jonathan Williams, Eliot Jimerson, and Todd Gates.
President Seneca follows in footsteps of his father, the late William Seneca, former Seneca Nation President elected in 1968.
President Seneca appointed Todd Gates to his vacant council seat for the Cattaraugus Territory. He thanked the voters for their support and encouraged a message of unity to the 200+ crowd. President Seneca introduced his family and thanked them for the love and support during his campaign. A bouquet exchange took place between the former First Lady Martha Armstrong and new First Lady Nicole Seneca.
Outgoing executives Arlene Bova, Bethany Johnson, Matthew B. Pagels, Presley M.C. Redeye, Keith White, and Tim Waterman were honored for their years of service and dedication to the executive offices and Seneca community.
