Ja:goh Sisters, Shelly Rivas and Jennifer Helie, Onöndowa’ga, Ögwajoni’ga:’, of the Allegany territory, who recently competed in a weightlifting competition, “Beast of the Northeast”, which was held at the Allegany Community Center on March 8th, 2025.
At the Beast of the Northeast, they placed first in their age and weight groups for the Ironman, including the bench press and deadlift combined scores. Shelly also secured first place in her last competition, while Jen competed for her first time. They train weekly in the weightlifting room at the ACC, which has a supporting lifting group that encourages them to join, train properly, and enter the competition. They are now training for the upcoming Summer Beast competition at the ACC on June 28th, 2025.
