I hope this message finds you well! As the school year comes to a close, I want to again extend heartfelt congratulations to all of our 2025 graduates—from preschool to high school and beyond. Your accomplishments are something to be proud of, and I wish each of you continued success as you take the next steps in your journey. You are our future leaders, and we believe in you.
This month, we celebrated Father’s Day and recognized the important role that fathers, grandfathers, and father figures play in our families and communities. As a small token of appreciation, we distributed gift cards to Seneca dads who attended the June Council meeting. Nya:wëh for all that you do.
At the same Council session, we passed a difficult but necessary exclusion resolution regarding an individual who, despite years of outreach and offers of help for their substance abuse, chose to continue criminal activity that ultimately resulted in drug-related deaths within their home. These actions will not be tolerated on Seneca territory. I have signed several executive exclusion orders for individuals who bring similar harm to our Nation, and I will continue to do so. Those who aid or abet such behavior will also face consequences.
We know change is possible—and we encourage those who are struggling to take advantage of the services and support systems that are available. Our hope is always that people will choose healing over harm.
To further protect our people, leadership has proposed amendments to the existing Intruder Law. These amendments strengthen the Seneca Nation’s ability to remove individuals who pose a danger to our communities. I’m proud to report that these efforts have been successful—the revised bill was passed by both the New York State Assembly and Senate. We now await the Governor’s endorsement, which will modify the existing law.
As we welcome the summer season, I want to remind everyone to prioritize safety—whether on the road, near water, or at home. Let’s continue to look out for one another, enjoy the season, and work together to ensure that our territories remain safe, healthy places for our families to thrive.
Nya:wëh,
