I hope this message finds you and your families well and enjoying the summer season. As we pass the halfway mark of 2025, I want to take a moment to reflect on some of the progress we’ve made together.
I’m pleased to report that the Seneca Nation has continued to build momentum across several key areas. Our Foreign Relations Committee has been hard at work, making real strides in building relationships with leaders at the local, state, and federal levels. We once again have a powerful and respected presence in Albany and Washington, D.C., and it’s making a difference for the future of our people. Our voice is being heard, and we are making progress that will benefit the next generations.
Our Public Safety Commission has also been moving forward with strength and purpose. Through close collaboration with local law enforcement agencies, we’ve gained important support in our efforts to strengthen our Nation’s authority to detain and remove individuals who pose a threat to our communities. This is a significant step in protecting our lands and people—and ensuring that the power to safeguard our Nation rests in our hands.
One of my goals coming into office was to improve the mood, attendance, and engagement of our monthly Council meetings. We’re still working on improving the quality of our virtual live feeds, and I appreciate the community’s continued patience as we work on those technical improvements.
Just as important was bringing a bit of our culture back into the room. We now open Council with smudging and traditional singing, to welcome newly enrolled members and honor those we’ve lost. We also take time to recognize our veterans and celebrate community members who have made outstanding contributions.
I encourage all Nation members to attend Council meetings when you can—especially our youth. It’s so important for our upcoming leaders to understand how our government works and to be involved in the decisions that shape our future. Your presence matters, your voice matters, and your participation will lead the way forward.
One of the highlights this season was the annual Native American Day at the Buffalo Bisons baseball game. I had the honor of joining many community members for an evening of celebration by throwing the ceremonial first pitch. My father-in-law, Peter Maybee, was recognized as the veteran honoree, and my cousin, Layla Seneca, gave a beautiful performance of the National Anthems. It was a wonderful moment to see our children on the field, and so many of our people gathered in strength and spirit.

As we look toward the summer months, I remain committed to listening, learning, and working alongside all of you to build a stronger, safer, and more unified Seneca Nation.

Stay safe and enjoy these beautiful summer days. Until next time!
