Gowanda Mural Project Featuring Artwork from Mary Jacobs, Sam Jacobs and Carson Waterman

Organizers of the Gowanda Mural are happy to announce the name of the newly finished mural project: Awë:ödö’! This is a Seneca word meaning there are flowers attached to it.

This project was at the Seneca Nation Fall Festival, Elders at the Wini Kettle Senior Center, Gowanda Central Schools Open House, Peace of the Pie LLC, Jesse’s Home & Gifts, and was always open to the public. Artist works are by Carson Waterman (Ribbon Skirt Pattern) along with Beadwork designs by Sam Jacobs & Mary Jacobs. Funded by a grant through NYS Grant facilitated through the Southern Tier West Regional Planning and Development Board.

Hundreds of dedicated volunteers from the community spent hours painting and participating to bring the project to life.

“Having the opportunity to share my beadwork designs at a scale as magnified as a mural is cool. This is the 2nd mural I’ve had the joy of seeing my beadwork in, for that I am grateful. I’m glad all the hard working crew of the Gowanda Mural Project continue to foster and support relationships with community artists and volunteers. Nya:wëh & Ja:göh to all who helped bring this mural to life,”
