The Housing Department (Allegany) hosted three visitors from the Pascua Yaqui Tribe located in Arizona. The tribe owns and operates Sonoran Pueblo Contracting (SPC), a subsidiary of Pascua Yaqui Development Corporation (PYDC), who with Kennedy Management, are building the new elder housing 4-plexes in Salamanca and Steamburg. The leadership of SPC came to check on the progress of the construction and to meet with us about the construction and to foster inter-tribal business and economic development.
One of the guests, Jesus “Boy” Sanora, who is chief estimator for Sonoran Pueblo Contracting, came prepared to make “street tacos” for the department , which are a are small, authentic Mexican tacos traditionally sold from carts or trucks, characterized by a soft corn tortilla filled with flavorful meats.
The PYDC attendees include Daune (pronounced as Dawn) Cardenas, Esq., CEO of PYDC, and Herminia “Minnie” Frias, who is PYDC Board President and a Council member of the tribe.
