What Is The Mission of Seneca Language Teacher Support And Community Outreach (SLTSCO)?

Our Mission is to provide Seneca language access to the community and professional learning opportunities, including certification support, to Seneca language instructors.

What does the SLTSCO Director do?

  • Assists in the development of Seneca language learning opportunities for the community
  • Offers teacher development opportunities to Seneca language instructors
  • Coordinates the Seneca language teacher training program
  • Develops curriculum for teacher training modules
  • Instructs teacher training modules and coordinates guest lecturers
  • Coordinates student teaching for teacher training program participants
  • Occasionally teaches community classes
  • Works with the SLTSCO team to develop more Seneca language learning pathways
  • Uses feedback from the Annual Seneca Language Summitt to assist with program development
  • Collaborates with other language and culture departments to develop collective goals

What role does the Language Reclamation Coordinator play?

  • Coordinates language use and promotional events.
  • Works various departments, programs, and community organizations to create Seneca language engagement pathways
  • Coordinates the Annual Seneca Language Summit
  • Creates opportunities for Seneca language learners, teachers, advocates and community members to share their ideas and hopes for the future.
  • Facilitates gatherings on language reclamation.

  • Create learning aides for online modules
  • Provide feedback to online students

  • Designs and maintains https://senecalanguage.com
  • Develops, produces, edits, and distributes Seneca language videos, audio files, publications, and other digital learning tools.
  • Maintains and updates the audio Seneca dictionary app found on Android and Apple platforms
  • Collaborates with various language departments to develop digital resources
  • Catalogues and digitizes Seneca language resources found within the department
  • Assists other departments with digitization of language materials
