Indigenous Poet, Sareya Taylor Collabs with Mrs. Roesser, an Eighth-grade Teacher at Salamanca City Central School District

The Native American Curriculum Team was honored to collaborate with Indigenous poet Sareya Taylor and Mrs. Roesser’s 8th-grade English classes in a truly unique learning experience. As part of their poetry unit, students were introduced to Sareya Taylor, author of I’m Thinking of Strawberries, through a joint effort by Mrs. Roesser and NACT. After studying the poem, students created their own original stanzas inspired by her work. Sareya then joined the 8th-grade classes via Zoom, where she shared a poetry reading and engaged students in a Q&A session.
