We can finally share the news! With hearts full of pride, we are beyond excited to announce that our son, Tyrone Bowen, has officially been named the permanent Head Coach of the University of Pittsburgh at Bradford Women’s Lacrosse Team!
What makes this even more incredible is what he accomplished in just his first year as the interim head coach. In his inaugural season leading the program, he guided the Panthers all the way to the conference championship, proving that great leadership, hard work, and believing in your team can accomplish amazing things.
As a Seneca man, this moment means even more. Our people have always been teachers, leaders, and competitors. To see one of our own standing on the sidelines as one of the few Indigenous head coaches in NCAA athletics is something our family and our Nation can be proud of. Representation matters, and every Native child who sees Coach Tyrone knows that their dreams belong on every field, every sideline, and every stage.
You carry with you the strength of those who came before you and the responsibility to inspire those who will come after. You represent your family, your community, and the Seneca Nation with humility, determination, and pride.
This position wasn’t given—it was earned through years of dedication, long hours, sacrifice, and an unwavering commitment to your players. We’ve watched you grow from a young athlete into a coach who builds not only successful teams, but confident young women.
We’re incredibly proud of the man you’ve become and all you’ve accomplished. This is only the beginning, and we know there are many more championships and milestones ahead. Congratulations, Coach!
