Protecting Her Sacred

Reposted from Mother Nation | October 13, 2026

October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month! A time to honor survivors, uplift families, and stand united across our communities.

More than 4 in 5 American Indian and Alaska Native women (84.3%) have experienced violence in their lifetime.

This includes:

  • 56.1% have experienced sexual violence
  • 55.5% have experienced physical violence by an intimate partner
  • 48.8% have experienced stalking
  • 66.4% have experienced psychological aggression by an intimate partner

These are not merely numbers. They are our sisters, mothers, daughters, aunties, and grandmothers. At Mother Nation, we honor the innate sacredness of every woman. Healing thrives when rooted in culture, safety, and community. Our Yeha:wi Services Center “Protecting Her Sacred” walks alongside survivors by providing:

  • Culturally Grounded Healing Circles: Restoring connection, balance, and emotional wellbeing.
  • Transitional Housing & Support: Creating safe spaces for families to rebuild and thrive.
  • Traditional Teachings & Ceremony: Centering prayer, heritage, and identity in the journey toward wholeness.

Every woman deserves to live free from fear, grounded in her dignity and strength.

If you or a loved one are experiencing violence, you do not have to walk alone. Help and healing are here:
