From The Desk of The Treasurer

Greetings,

Hard to believe, but March is almost over! I hope everyone has adjusted to the “daylight savings” time change. Every spring, the time change throws me off for about a week, until I catch up. I’ve been seeing a few robins lately – so spring must be very close.

As previously reported by Ron “R.K.” Kenjockety, our newest One Stop convenience store and gas station is on schedule to open in mid-April. If you venture out to Buffalo, be sure to swing by and check it out. We are very proud to add another outlet to our economic engine, especially during a global pandemic.

Our Accounts Payable Office has been working on ways to save procurement costs by developing purchasing power opportunities, streamlining vendor lists, developing a preferred vendor list and other initiatives to reduce expenses. Our fiscal staff played an important role in the past few weeks with getting the trash removal back on track for both territories. I realize it was a bit of an inconvenience while Po Dan’s trucks were in the shop for extensive repairs, but we quickly found alternative short-term solutions to address the issue.

My staff continues to stay busy with day to day operations of our office and working on various tasks and projects. We all stay informed about what is happening on the COVID-19 front, Budget and Finance meetings and the Drug Taskforce.

Kerry John, our Deputy Chief of Staff, has spent the better part of the last month doing evaluations on some of our Acting Directors, to make recommendations for them to become Directors. I really appreciate my staff for their hard work ethic and always being available when I need them. Stay safe, check on our elders and continue to help one another.

Respectfully,
Rickey L. Armstrong, Sr.
